Hello! I’m Carli. I love sharing what I have learned over the course of 20 years of singing and studying the voice.

I believe that singing is a uniquely human form of expression that we all have access to.

My philosophy is that everyone can sing.

I believe that singing is one of our freest and most powerful human forms of expression. The same as laughing, crying or dancing; I believe it is a primal instinct. I believe that everyone can and should sing!

(The idea that someone might be “tone deaf” is actually a pretty rare disorder! Most people already know how to hear and match pitch, and simply haven’t mapped out the full spectrum of their own voice yet in order to use their muscle memory to re-create the sound they want!)

My approach: breathing & being brave

My focus is on healthy and natural singing. How can we get out of our heads and allow our bodies to make the freest sound?

Our main tool is the breath. In our lessons, we will focus on how to release tension from the body and utilize the full capacity of our breath. Then we can really start to nerd out about other fundamentals like switching between registers, utilizing vowels, getting to know our different resonant chambers, shaping our tone, and more!

Most of our challenges in singing come from mental blocks- singing is vulnerable and our bodies have built up all kinds of safety mechanisms for us - some that block us from our healthiest sound. Making a sound that we’re not sure about can be really hard. So I aim to foster a free and safe space to try out weird sounds, especially LOUD SOUNDS which takes bravery - like jumping off the high dive!

I utilize exercises from a wide array of practices and perspectives including speech therapy, yoga, voice for stage acting, as well as classical, contemporary, and musical theatre singing. Your voice is capable of a lot more than you might think, and I aim to help you connect all the different parts of it into one whole voice.

All levels are welcome!

I love working with total beginners. Most of my students are learning to locate and navigate the unfamiliar parts of their voices for the first time. Some have never sung in front of anyone before our first lesson!

Some of my students have a bit of experience, maybe they’ve been in choir, but never had the chance to develop their own unique sound.

And some of my students are already pros! I draw from my own experience as a professional singer when helping an already-accomplished vocalist find healthy ways to expand their range, let go of tension, or find their true, unique sound.
